At Adbri Cement we continue to innovate and grow, investing in environmental enhancements that will benefit Australians now and in the future. We’ve made real strides in innovative environmental practices resulting in significant reduction in carbon emissions in the past eight years, while at the same time growing our business.
Our Birkenhead facility has embraced alternative fuels and reducing the impact on the environment. Since 2003 over 1,300,000 tonnes of Refuse Derived Fuel has been used in the kilns from waste processed from construction, commercial and industrial activities. This has reduced the facility’s natural gas usage by over 35% and diverts approximately 200,000 tonnes of waste from landfill each year.
